I worked for David at Quercus Gardens for a few seasons. I have been employed in the industry for a decade and can confidently say that Quercus Gardens has  the most positive company culture; when things go wrong there is an emphasis on learning instead of assigning blame. Although it is a seasonal position, David understands the importance of life/work balance and will accommodate any reasonable time off requests. Landscaping is often hard labour under a vengeful sun but having David recognize your humanity and not just your production capacity takes the edge off.

Quercus Gardens is a small landscaping company located in Toronto dedicated to upholding a high standard of maintenance and design work. The company owner, David, is fair, kind, loyal to his workers and quite knowledgeable about many topics pertaining to landscaping. The crews that operate within the company are very well trained and hardworking, ensuring that every property is looked after according to David's design specification and client preferences. Personally, I learned a lot working for Quercus in just one season. David was gracious enough to help me fulfill my 400 hour co-op requirement for the Horticultural Technician Program I was attending at Niagara College. Ultimately, this experience gave me valuable knowledge in my field of study setting me up for the rest of my career. I cannot recommend this company any more highly. It is full of professional workers and overall great people. 

 Before my current career, I was a student working for David, trying to make a year's worth of money every summer to pay for my car and other expenses. Even after I graduated, I kept working for Quercus and David was patient and flexible while I figured out my next moves. My experience with David was awesome - he's a very kind, interesting man with a lot of wisdom and great taste in music. We worked hard and I learned a lot - and even though I was ultimately suited for different work he managed to keep it interesting and get a lot out of me in those years. In my time, he always invested more into the projects and the staff than he needed to, and the results always showed. When I think of  that time now, I think of it as very positive and I grew a lot, learned a lot and I actually made some decent money! I've always remembered David as a great boss and I wouldn't hesitate to do it over again if I could go back.

  Working at Quercus Gardens was one of my favourite jobs of all time. It is both a professional and friendly place to work. It is a great company to learn and grow as a landscape technician. I would 100% recommend this job to a friend.
